This is the hike on which we finally reach
the half-way point of our journey! Who knew that a spontaneous and
uninformed suggestion three years ago
would have led to such an adventure? But what a satisfying one it's been and, I
think I may even be sorry when it's done.
Here we are at Kilometre 447, our official halfway point:

It's a glorious sunny day and the scenery,
foliage, sky and weather are all spectacular. There are golden fields of wheat,
preposterous round bales of hay, bright flowers, gleaming berries and exquisite
bugs. We see a farmer harvesting his fields, the kids find green apples in an
abandoned orchard for an apple fight, and we all climb to the top of a hill
that affords glorious views in all directions.
We don't usually hike much in the summer, because of heat and bugs and vacations, but this hike is so beautiful we are glad to be planning a whole week of summer hiking for August 2014.

I take over 300 pictures, so whittling it down to less than 50 is quite an accomplishment.
