Hike #54
Date – November 2, 2014
Location – Map 22 Devil’s Glen
Distance – 17.7
Total Trail Distance – 736.1 (157.9 to go)
Hikers – Dean, Marlene, Benjamin, Steve, Simon, Harold and Janette
Start – 12.6 9/10 Sideroad, Blue Mountain Section
End – 30.3 Devil’s Glen Provincial Park
Direction – North
Weather – Cold and sunny
When we leave home it is clear and dry, but once again we are
surprised to find snow on the ground as we head north and arrive at our
starting point. That might also explain why Simon is wearing shorts. He assures
us he’s fine.
This 18K section fills a gap created when we did a previous
two-day hike south from Collingwood. Closing the gap means we have now hiked
the entire distance from Queenston to Beaver Valley. We are on track to finish by September 2015.
This hike has a bit of everything: farm fields, a conservation
area, provincial park, rocky overlooks, mud, streams, stiles, bridges, road, bush road
and snow-covered forest and field. Really, the pictures say it all. What better
way to spend a sunny November Sunday?
